The Double Blade Cutter is designed with two parallel blades to cut impressions and create 1 mm slices, which are easier to analyze on optical equipment.
It is one of the most important and popullar accessory in the whole Plastiform range. Designed with twin blades welded together, it enables semi-flexible or semi-rigid replicas to be cut along their axis without distorting the dimensions and characteristics of the Plastiform.
It is handcrafted by master cutlers in the Thiers region of France, guaranteeing precise cuts on all types of final hardness. The blades are made of 12C27 steel, known for its durability and hardness (57 HRC), with permanent sharpening for exclusive use with plastiform products.
The cutter guide ensures a straight cut during use.
The standard Double Blade Cutter has a 60 mm blade with a gap of 1 mm to 1.3 mm between the blades. However, custom cutters can be made to meet specific needs according the following list of specifications.

The Double Blade Cutter is primarily used for dimensional controls of internal and external impressions as it is its main focus.
To cut a slice within a Plastiform replica, ensure the impression is properly centered in the cutting guide.
Holding the cutter in one hand, and maintaining the guide in the other, slice the impression along its transverse axis while keeping the cutter perpendicular to the guide’s base.

However, it is crucial to ensure that the area to be examined is properly cleaned and degreased to maintain the quality of the impression. We recommend using the degreaser DN1, a Plastiform-certified product, for optimal results.
How to correctly extract a Plastiform impression?
Plastiforms are highly precise, ensuring that once cured, they maintain perfect contact with the walls of the part, almost as if they are glued. To extract an impression: have a firm grip to pull energetically along the axis of the impression—twisting or unscrewing should be avoided. For this, it is essential to use demolding rings.
