Description

F40 is the intermediate product between F20 and F50, it is more resistant than the F50 and harder than F20, allowing you to cut it with the Double Blade Cutter.

The final impression can handle higher extraction stress, up to 35%. The F40’s impressions are both precise and elastic, capturing all shape details with a micron accuracy.

This is a product designed for extremely difficult-to-extract impressions requiring the use of the Double Blade Cutter. For this reason, it should only be used in specific cases.

Despite significant deformation during extraction, it maintains its captured dimensions without leaving any trace in the controlled area. This plastiform is a great alternative if you cannot use F50 and need a product compatible with the Double Blade Cutter (which F20 is not).

F40 is a good fit for the following applications:

  • Dimensional control of highly complex internal shapes. This Plastiform is design to take impressions very hard to extract while still being cuttable by the Double Blade Cutter easily.

F40 is slightly thicker than other Plastiform fluids. As with other products in the fluid range, it is recommended to use a tip with the injector when applying F40.

If the flow is too slow, you can cut the tip to increase the flow rate without making handling more difficult.

When applying a Plastiform product, especially F40, inject it slowly to avoid creating air bubbles.

Always remember this is a very specific product that should require an expertise from a Plastiform Expert before being used.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all products compatible with the Double Blade Cutter ?

QA

No. The double blade cutter can only cut semi-flexible impressions. You can check on the label and the technical sheet if the product you are interest in is usable with the Cutter.

How to correctly extract a Plastiform impression?

QA

Plastiforms are highly precise, ensuring that once cured, they maintain perfect contact with the walls of the part, almost as if they are glued. To extract an impression: have a firm grip to pull energetically along the axis of the impression—twisting or unscrewing should be avoided. For this, it is essential to use demolding rings.

How to clean the injection material after taking the impression ?

QA

You don't need to clean the material. The nozzle is going to trash and the tip is reusable after extracting the polymerized material inside it.

Are there any materials to which plastiforms cannot be applied?

QA

It is possible to apply our products to any type of material and its alloys (including gold, silver, titanium). They can also be used on plastic materials, wood, resins, etc. However, certain silicone-based materials should be avoided, as they can sometimes alter the polymerization of the products. We always recommend a test before use.

What are nozzles and tips used for?

QA

The nozzle should be attached at the end of the cartridge, ensures that the two components of the plastiform mix homogeneously before application. It is a consumable item and must be replaced after each use. The tip, which is fitted at the end of the nozzle, reduces the flow rate. This is particularly recommended for fluid plastiforms to achieve optimal application accuracy, especially in fine details. The tip is reusable and can be cut to increase the flow if needed.

What does “working time” means?

QA

The "Working time" is the period during which a Plastiform can be altered after injection, maintaining its initial consistency. This means that the chemical reaction between the two components has not yet progressed to the point where the impression begins to harden.

What does “curing time” means?

QA

The "curing time" is the period after which the impression can be removed from the part following its injection. This is when the impression has achieved approximately 80% of its final hardness, enabling its removal from the form to be replicated.

What does “polymerization time” means?

QA

The "polymerization time" is the time required for the impression to reach its final hardness, such as 20 Shore A for F20, 50 Shore A for F50, etc. This indicates when the impression is fully usable, particularly for precise dimensional measurements.

What is the purpose of the Double Blade Cutter?

QA

The Cutter has been specially developed to facilitate the use of Plastiform impressions. It allows a slice to be cut in the axis of an impression in order to exploit its profile more easily on optical measuring instruments. It is customizable according to your needs.
