Description

The F85 is an extremely fluid product easy to insert into parts and that become very rigid after polymerizing.

It produces a rigid final impression with a hardness of 85 Shore A, meaning it is non-flexible and does not deform or accept any stress or elongation during demolding.

Due to its lack of flexibility, F85 is best used for controlling simple shapes where no extraction stress is expected. It does not tolerate any stress during extraction: 0%.

Th F85 is designed to make controlling simple shapes easier. It is contact measurable which enable measurement with and without contact.

If you need to check simple shapes but lack visual inspection instruments, F85 is an excellent choice.

Additionally, F85’s rigidity makes it a good product for mechanical reinforcement. It strengthens the part while having enough flexibility to absorb some vibrations.

The F85 is suitable for both of these applications:

  • Dimensional control of simple internal forms: When you need contact measurements and the replica doesn’t need to be stretched on the way out.
  • Mechanical reinforcement of a part before machining. Its rigidity makes good reinforcement for fragile components.

It is one of the most fluid plastiforms, so it’s strongly recommended to use a tip to control the product’s flow rate. This approach allows you to pour the product slowly and avoid creating air bubbles.

Refer to the instructions for use for specific recommendations and to the technical sheet for technical data about this product.

It is not possible to use the Double Blade Cutter with the F85.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do contact measurements alter the replica?

QA

We recommend using a contact control machine exclusively with rigid impressions post-polymerization (> 80 Shore A or > 30 Shore D). Employing contact control methods on softer impressions might temporarily distort the measurements during the evaluation, though it will not cause long-term deformation as a Plastiform always goes back to the shape it copied.

How to correctly extract a Plastiform impression?

QA

Plastiforms are highly precise, ensuring that once cured, they maintain perfect contact with the walls of the part, almost as if they are glued. To extract an impression: have a firm grip to pull energetically along the axis of the impression—twisting or unscrewing should be avoided. For this, it is essential to use demolding rings.

Is it necessary to have a designated space set up for taking an impression?

QA

While plastiforms are designed for use in metrology laboratories, they can be utilized in various environments such as workshops, outdoors, and on production lines. However, it is crucial to ensure that the area to be examined is properly cleaned and degreased to maintain the quality of the impression. We recommend using the degreaser DN1, a Plastiform-certified product, for optimal results.

What is the life span of the products?

QA

Unused products can be stored for up to 3 years. Once opened, the product remains usable for up to 1 year. The replicas produced have an unlimited shelf life.

What is the smallest diameter at which these products can be effectively used?

QA

For very small diameters (< 5mm), it's best to use a liquid product and make a full impression. However, there is no minimum diameter. Use needle nozzles if you need more precision when pouring the product.

What does “working time” means?

QA

The "Working time" is the period during which a Plastiform can be altered after injection, maintaining its initial consistency. This means that the chemical reaction between the two components has not yet progressed to the point where the impression begins to harden.

What does “curing time” means?

QA

The "curing time" is the period after which the impression can be removed from the part following its injection. This is when the impression has achieved approximately 80% of its final hardness, enabling its removal from the form to be replicated.

What does “polymerization time” means?

QA

The "polymerization time" is the time required for the impression to reach its final hardness, such as 20 Shore A for F20, 50 Shore A for F50, etc. This indicates when the impression is fully usable, particularly for precise dimensional measurements.
