Description

The M70 is the most popular product among the manual putty range because it fits most use case perfectly and is compatible with the double blade cutter.

Its initial malleable consistency, similar to clay, allows the M70 to be easily applied by hand to vertical or overhanging surfaces.

Once polymerized, it creates a Semi-Flexible impression with a hardness of 70 Shore A and has a low deformation capacity.

It can withstand a maximum Removal Constraint of 5%, making it ideal for low complexity shapes.

This product is recommended for creating simple external shape impressions, such as threads and grooves, on medium to large parts.

Additionally, it is excellent for creating custom precision poses for complex or fragile parts. Developed as a modern replacement for the old generation KV-AD, the M70 brings improved performance and ease of use.

You can cut this impression with the Double Blade Cutter to obtain a detailed profile of the replica. These profiles significantly enhance the accuracy and quality of your final measurements.

The M70 is suitable for the following applications:

  • Dimensional control of simple external shapes. It is especially used for evaluating threads in the Oil & Gas industry without dismantling the pipes.
  • Custom posing & part reinforcement. Its semi-flexible final consistency both absorb vibrations & solidify parts before machining.

To apply this product, mix the two components in equal quantities by hand. Stir actively until you achieve a homogeneous color, which should takes about 20 seconds.

Once mixed, apply the plastiform quickly before it cures. Be careful, as you cannot apply the product once the working time has passed.

Before using any product from the Plastiform range, ensure your surface is clean by using the DN1 degreaser.

As the M70 impression is semi-flexible, it can be controlled without contact using visual measuring systems such as: Profile projectors or Optical measuring system.

It can also be checked with contact measuring systems for soft material like calipers or 3D measuring machines, but we always recommend using a visual inspection system.

The Double Blade Cutter is compatible and recommended for this product, making it easy to control the profile of the shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all products compatible with the Double Blade Cutter ?

QA

No. The double blade cutter can only cut semi-flexible impressions. You can check on the label and the technical sheet if the product you are interest in is usable with the Cutter.

Are there any materials to which plastiforms cannot be applied?

QA

It is possible to apply our products to any type of material and its alloys (including gold, silver, titanium). They can also be used on plastic materials, wood, resins, etc. However, certain silicone-based materials should be avoided, as they can sometimes alter the polymerization of the products. We always recommend a test before use.

At what temperature does the final impression begin to be altered?

QA

Although plastiforms have been developed for use and measurement in metrological laboratories (20°C), they are not sensitive to changes in ambient temperature. However, above 120°C, the dimensions of the impression will be altered.

Is it necessary to have a designated space set up for taking an impression?

QA

While plastiforms are designed for use in metrology laboratories, they can be utilized in various environments such as workshops, outdoors, and on production lines. However, it is crucial to ensure that the area to be examined is properly cleaned and degreased to maintain the quality of the impression. We recommend using the degreaser DN1, a Plastiform-certified product, for optimal results.

What does “working time” means?

QA

The "Working time" is the period during which a Plastiform can be altered after injection, maintaining its initial consistency. This means that the chemical reaction between the two components has not yet progressed to the point where the impression begins to harden.

What does “curing time” means?

QA

The "curing time" is the period after which the impression can be removed from the part following its injection. This is when the impression has achieved approximately 80% of its final hardness, enabling its removal from the form to be replicated.

What does “polymerization time” means?

QA

The "polymerization time" is the time required for the impression to reach its final hardness, such as 20 Shore A for F20, 50 Shore A for F50, etc. This indicates when the impression is fully usable, particularly for precise dimensional measurements.

What is the life span of the products?

QA

Unused products can be stored for up to 3 years. Once opened, the product remains usable for up to 1 year. The replicas produced have an unlimited shelf life.

What is the purpose of the Double Blade Cutter?

QA

The Cutter has been specially developed to facilitate the use of Plastiform impressions. It allows a slice to be cut in the axis of an impression in order to exploit its profile more easily on optical measuring instruments. It is customizable according to your needs.
