Description

The M90 is a rigid malleable product that allow contact measurement for simple form impressions.

M90 is unique among malleable products in that it becomes rigid after curing. The final impression has a hardness of 90 Shore A, making it unable to deform when removed from the part.

This plastiform is only adapted for simple shapes without any extraction constraints.

The rigidity of M90 allows it to be measured with contact, which is useful for repeated indicative checks that do not require micron-level accuracy or for measurement using a CMM like machine.

This rigidity is also valuable for protecting fragile parts, as it prevents vibration and resonance.

M90 is recommended for creating rigid impressions of simple external shapes such as threads and grooves. It is typically used on medium to large parts.

The M90 is adapted for:

  • Dimensional control of simple external shapes: when you need to measure the impression using contact measurements,
  • Reinforcement before machining: to reinforce a fragile part to protect it from a machining operation.

These applications do not require any particular technique to be performed by an operator.

To apply the product, mix both components properly by hand with a 1:1 ratio. Then, apply the M90 uniformly over the entire desired area before the polymerization advances too much.

The M90 impression is rigid and can be measured with or without contact using visual measuring systems such as profile projectors, microscopes, or optical measuring systems. It can also be measured with contact tools like calipers and three-dimensional machines (CMM etc.).

However, we recommend using a visual inspection system whenever possible, as the results are generally more efficient.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all products compatible with the Double Blade Cutter ?

QA

No. The double blade cutter can only cut semi-flexible impressions. You can check on the label and the technical sheet if the product you are interest in is usable with the Cutter.

Are Plastiform products compatible with all types of metal alloys?

QA

We always recommend carrying out a preliminary test to confirm that your alloy will not adhere to the product, as we have observed several cases of incompatibility with very specific alloys, although this is very rare.

Are plastiforms considered polluting products?

QA

Our products are neither polluting nor toxic. However, since the packaging and products themselves are made of plastic, they should be disposed of in traditional waste facilities and not left in natural environments.

Do contact measurements alter the replica?

QA

We recommend using a contact control machine exclusively with rigid impressions post-polymerization (> 80 Shore A or > 30 Shore D). Employing contact control methods on softer impressions might temporarily distort the measurements during the evaluation, though it will not cause long-term deformation as a Plastiform always goes back to the shape it copied.

How should products be stored?

QA

Products must always be stored between 15°C and 28°C, in their original packaging, and with the cap facing upwards. Cartridge plastiforms have a shelf life of up to 3 years, which remains unchanged even after they are opened. For more detailed information, please consult the technical data sheets.

How to correctly extract a Plastiform impression?

QA

Plastiforms are highly precise, ensuring that once cured, they maintain perfect contact with the walls of the part, almost as if they are glued. To extract an impression: have a firm grip to pull energetically along the axis of the impression—twisting or unscrewing should be avoided. For this, it is essential to use demolding rings.

How to destroy prints after measurement?

QA

Impressions can be thrown in the traditional waste.

What does “working time” means?

QA

The "Working time" is the period during which a Plastiform can be altered after injection, maintaining its initial consistency. This means that the chemical reaction between the two components has not yet progressed to the point where the impression begins to harden.

What does “curing time” means?

QA

The "curing time" is the period after which the impression can be removed from the part following its injection. This is when the impression has achieved approximately 80% of its final hardness, enabling its removal from the form to be replicated.

What does “polymerization time” means?

QA

The "polymerization time" is the time required for the impression to reach its final hardness, such as 20 Shore A for F20, 50 Shore A for F50, etc. This indicates when the impression is fully usable, particularly for precise dimensional measurements.
