Description

The F20 XL is ideal for large total impressions when you need to measure a big radius or diameter.

Like all XL products in the Big Volume range, it benefits from an extended working & polymerization time.

The impression is very flexible, with a final hardness of 20 Shore A, allowing it to support strong stresses and deformations during the demolding step.

It is a product recommended for impressions of complex internal shapes such as threads and grooves, ensuring the Removal Constraint does not exceed 30%.

The impression is extremely precise, capturing all details of the part : shape, surface conditions and dimensions, with a micron accuracy.

The technical characteristics of the F20 XL also make it suitable for protecting or preserving parts and it serves as an excellent substitute for sealing joints.

As with all high-volume products, the F20 XL has an extended working time of about 10 minutes, and a polymerization time of approximately 25 minutes. These timeframes allow operators to pour the product into large spaces effectively.

The F20 XL is designed to meet the following applications:

  • Dimensional Control:  When you need to measure the radius or diameter of complex internal forms.
  • Protection, masking: Custom protective molds against surface treatments.
  • Custom joint and sealing: To ensure a component is waterproof or well isolated.

It can also be used for the dimensional control of simple internal forms.

When using this product in bottle or cans, you have to manually mix both components in a 1:1 ratio. Strictly follow the guidelines in the instructions for use and Technical Sheet.

Manual mixing requires careful attention to the quantities mixed and the product’s working time.

We recommend pouring the F20 XL slowly, allowing it to flow into every corner while avoiding air bubbles. These instructions also apply to all other high-volume fluid products in the Plastiform range.

As the replica is very flexible, its dimensions should only be checked with visual measuring machines such as: Profile projectors, Microscopes, Optical Measuring Devices, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are all products compatible with the Double Blade Cutter ?

QA

No. The double blade cutter can only cut semi-flexible impressions. You can check on the label and the technical sheet if the product you are interest in is usable with the Cutter.

Are Plastiform products sensitive to UV light?

QA

No, our products are not sensitive to them in the short or medium term in their traditional use.

At what temperature does the final impression begin to be altered?

QA

Although plastiforms have been developed for use and measurement in metrological laboratories (20°C), they are not sensitive to changes in ambient temperature. However, above 120°C, the dimensions of the impression will be altered.

How should products be stored?

QA

Products must always be stored between 15°C and 28°C, in their original packaging, and with the cap facing upwards. Cartridge plastiforms have a shelf life of up to 3 years, which remains unchanged even after they are opened. For more detailed information, please consult the technical data sheets.

What does “working time” means?

QA

The "Working time" is the period during which a Plastiform can be altered after injection, maintaining its initial consistency. This means that the chemical reaction between the two components has not yet progressed to the point where the impression begins to harden.

What does “curing time” means?

QA

The "curing time" is the period after which the impression can be removed from the part following its injection. This is when the impression has achieved approximately 80% of its final hardness, enabling its removal from the form to be replicated.

What does “polymerization time” means?

QA

The "polymerization time" is the time required for the impression to reach its final hardness, such as 20 Shore A for F20, 50 Shore A for F50, etc. This indicates when the impression is fully usable, particularly for precise dimensional measurements.

What do the colors of the products represent?

QA

The colour of the product is only a visual indicator that allows products to be easily distinguished.

What are nozzles and tips used for?

QA

The nozzle should be attached at the end of the cartridge, ensures that the two components of the plastiform mix homogeneously before application. It is a consumable item and must be replaced after each use. The tip, which is fitted at the end of the nozzle, reduces the flow rate. This is particularly recommended for fluid plastiforms to achieve optimal application accuracy, especially in fine details. The tip is reusable and can be cut to increase the flow if needed.

How to correctly extract a Plastiform impression?

QA

Plastiforms are highly precise, ensuring that once cured, they maintain perfect contact with the walls of the part, almost as if they are glued. To extract an impression: have a firm grip to pull energetically along the axis of the impression—twisting or unscrewing should be avoided. For this, it is essential to use demolding rings.
