The F50 XL is specifically designed for custom-made protective moulds aimed at replacing masking tapes.
It is one of the most used products for masking and protection applications, known for its extreme resistance and its ease in designing custom coverings for parts undergoing surface treatments.
The moulds made of F50 XL can be reused multiple times, even when protecting a part from highly demanding surface treatments (chemical, thermal, etc.).
In its final state, it is flexible enough to easily insert and remove parts so the operators don’t waste time between batches.
The impression is highly precise with micron accuracy and fits closely to the walls of the part to be protected. This makes the F50 XL perfectly waterproof against any treatment.
Additionally, the product’s impressions always return to their original shapes, allowing them to be reused for multiple machining operations.
The properties of the F50 XL also make it suitable for internal dimensional control, but be careful as it only supports an extraction stress of 5%.
It is the only XL product completely compatible with the Double Blade Cutter, which makes it a good fit for some dimensional control situations.
As a high-volume product, it offers a longer working time of about 10 minutes and a curing time of approximately 25 minutes.

Manual mixing requires careful attention to the quantities mixed and the product’s working time.
We recommend pouring the F50 XL slowly, allowing it to flow into every corner while avoiding air bubbles. These instructions also apply to all other high-volume fluid products in the Plastiform range.
As the replica is Semi-Flexible, its dimensions should only be checked with visual measuring machines such as: Profile projectors, Microscopes, Optical Measuring Devices, etc.

Are all products compatible with the Double Blade Cutter ?
No. The double blade cutter can only cut semi-flexible impressions. You can check on the label and the technical sheet if the product you are interest in is usable with the Cutter.
Are the mixers included with all XL references?
No, the mixers are only provided with the 10.2L cans, as the bottles can be mixed by shaking them energetically, and the cartridges don't need to be mixed.
Why do I need to mix the components with the mixers when using XL Cans?
When not used for a certain amount of time, it is highly recommended to mix both components separately using the mixer to ensure the A and B components are homogeneous before application.
Which application gun should we choose?
The choice of the application material depends on the cartridge size. For 50mL cartridges, there are two options: the manual DM-50 gun or the pneumatic DP-50 gun. The main difference lies in ease of use; the DP-50 is less cumbersome for users who take repeated impressions. For 400mL cartridges, the options are the manual DS-400 or the pneumatic DP-400 guns. Additionally, there is the DB-400, a battery-operated gun.
What does “working time” means?
The "Working time" is the period during which a Plastiform can be altered after injection, maintaining its initial consistency. This means that the chemical reaction between the two components has not yet progressed to the point where the impression begins to harden.
What does “curing time” means?
The "curing time" is the period after which the impression can be removed from the part following its injection. This is when the impression has achieved approximately 80% of its final hardness, enabling its removal from the form to be replicated.
What does “polymerization time” means?
The "polymerization time" is the time required for the impression to reach its final hardness, such as 20 Shore A for F20, 50 Shore A for F50, etc. This indicates when the impression is fully usable, particularly for precise dimensional measurements.
At what temperature does the final impression begin to be altered?
Although plastiforms have been developed for use and measurement in metrological laboratories (20°C), they are not sensitive to changes in ambient temperature. However, above 120°C, the dimensions of the impression will be altered.
